Eric Richard

Post-high school, I embarked on a military career with the Minnesota Air National Guard, serving as a Crew Chief on the C-130.

After a few years, I transitioned to active duty and embraced the role of a C-130J pilot, involving myself in operations from Afghanistan's final withdrawal to supporting Operation Allied Refuge and the transportation of 193 refugees. These experiences etched in me the value of service and dedication.

While training as a pilot, I discovered a passion for drones and STEM. Through self-learning and determination, I built my own drone and helped launch the first drone racing event at an Active Duty Air Force base. This led to a turning point at a military-hosted STEM festival, where children's curiosity triggered the idea of making STEM accessible for all.

It was at this event, that a child's eager question, "Can I try it?" ignited my inspiration to co-found Argos Academy. Our goal is to create an ecosystem of hands-on STEM products that are affordable, easy to use, and enable the next generation to explore, learn, and innovate.

Growing up, my curiosity led me to explore areas like electronics and fabrication. This enthusiasm found purpose when I joined the US Air Force as a Scientific Applications Specialist, learning to apply new skills in physics, data analytics, and engineering.

Transitioning to an instructional role later in my career sparked my love for education, providing an opportunity to grow and develop future Airmen. Later at the Air Force's Air Education and Training Command Headquarters, I got the opportunity to shape the future of learning by studying the application of innovative educational technologies.

When my colleague, Eric, proposed the idea of a company that provides affordable STEM education, I was captivated. Our goal was to foster creativity and critical thinking through an ecosystem of well designed and affordable hardware and software tools.
